There are two types of piston rings: air rings and oil rings. The air ring is used to seal the compressed air in the combustion chamber, and the oil ring is used to scrape excess oil from the cylinder. Some engines use four piston rings, three air rings and one oil ring. Pay attention to the order and direction of piston ring installation, with the marked side facing up. Install the bottom oil ring first, then the third air ring, the second air ring, and finally the first air ring. After installing the piston ring, you also need to pay attention to the piston ring opening. The openings of each ring should be staggered to prevent the combustible mixture from leaking from the gap between the openings of the piston rings when the engine starts, causing difficulties in starting the engine. The first and second piston ring openings are staggered 180 , the second and third piston ring openings are staggered 90 , and the third and fourth piston ring openings are staggered 180 .
